Maurice Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges (The Child and the Spells) conducted by Jorge Parodi directed by Heidi Lauren Duke This production premiered to audience acclaim in late September at The Players on Gramercy Park. After several audience members approached us to explore the possibilities of bringing a performance to their schools or communities, we have officially launched this show as an outreach production. We welcome representatives from any area schools, religious groups, or community organizations to contact us about bringing this magical opera to them or bringing their larger groups to a local performance. Ravel's charming opera tells the story of a naughty child who learns his lesson when the objects and animals in his room come to life. Group performances will start with a fun introduction to the opera and the characters for kids. The opera itself is under an hour long (perfect for young attention spans) and is performed in French with English supertitles. It is recommended for children 5 and up.
